ATC permits Dr Asim, Qaimkhani to travel abroad
Dr Asim Hussain, former petroleum minister and a close aide to former president Asif Ali Zardari, was allowed to go abroad for medical treatment for 15 days by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday. The same court allowed Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Qaimkhani to go abroad for one week for a personal reason.
Dr Asim Hussain and Anis Qaimkhani along with others are standing trial over charges of sheltering terrorists and other criminals and providing them with medical treatment at two branches of Hussain’s private hospital.
The two had moved applications seeking permission for going abroad. Dr Asim Hussain had said in his plea that he desired to go abroad for medical treatment. Anis Qaimkhani had told the court that he wanted to go abroad for a personal reason. The court permitted the former to go abroad for 15 days and the latter for a week.
