Jawad guides West Zone to victory

ISLAMABAD: Jawad Ahmed (47 runs and 2-26) again showed his all-round prowess as West Zone ended Central Zone’s unbeaten run with a three-wicket victory in the Islamabad Inter-District Under-19 One-Day Championship match here at the Diamond Ground Thursday.

West Zone achieved the 193-run winning target for the loss of seven wickets with prolific Jawad hitting 47 runs. Earlier, Jawad took two wickets as Central Zone were bowled out for 192. For Central Zone, Hamad Siddique (77) and Haroon Waheed (52 not out) played well.

Ahsan Asghar (4-24) performed well with the ball for Central Zone.Both West and Central Zones finished at the top of the points table in the competition.Scores in brief: Central Zone 192 all out in 39.3 overs (Hamad Siddique 77, Haroon Waheed 52 not out; Jawad Ahmed 2-26, Najeebullah 2-23, Syed Ibrahim 2-23). North Zone beat Gilgit-Baltistan by 148 runs: North Zone 267 in 49.2 overs (Azan Tariq 101, Hamza Habib 50; Kashif Hussain 3-55). Gilgit-Baltistan 119 all out in 28.3 overs (Zahoor Ali 25; Bilal Ahmad 5-13, Nauman Amjad 2-18).
