LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said his political rivals were well aware of the fact that his party possessed popular power needed to make mass movements successful. The target of gathering the entire political leadership at a single stage was successfully achieved which meant a big success in bringing the Sharif brothers to justice for the Model Town massacre.
Addressing a core committee meeting on Thursday, he said so far the protest for justice was in the first gear, soon under a clear strategy it would be geared up for applying more force. "Counting chairs is not our problem, whatever popular strength was needed we had it there," he said, and thanked the opposition parties leadership and workers for participating in the protest. He expressed his satisfaction over the pace and tempo of the protest movement for justice, saying the steering committee meeting would be called soon for the next phase of action. He said it was heartening to see that all opposition parties had joined hands; the parties had every right to have their own agenda, ideology, manifesto and politics, but their joining hands for justice was a positive development. He alleged the N League was an extremist party andtheir dealings with banned organisations was an open secret.
