Qatar spending millions for social welfare in Pakistan: envoy
Islamabad: Qatar Ambassador to Pakistan Saqr Bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri said that total cost of projects carried out by Qatar Charity in Pakistan during the year 2017 was 22135290 Qatari Riyals. While the cost of sponsorship and social care in Pakistan during the same year was 8.2 million Qatari Riyals.
In a release issued by him on Wednesday said that among the most important projects undertaken by Qatar Charity at a cost of 5.7 million Qatari Riyals include 1079 wells which were drilled in Pakistan benefiting more than 200000 people. While at a cost of 6.5 million Qatari Riyals, relief projects benefiting more than 100000 people have been implemented.
The relief projects in Pakistan in 2017 included distribution of food parcels and delivery of cooked food for Iftar in Balochistan province, this was in addition to the activities of the development of water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure and holding of training courses and various events in this regards.
