If there is one thing that needs to be introduced in the healthcare sector of Sindh, it is a strict regime of limitations on private practice. Barring doctors who work at public hospitals from running their private clinics is a step that can prove beneficial for the people. A majority of the doctors in our country run private clinics and often pay more attention to them than they do to their duties at government hospitals. While everyone has the right to do what they want after work, these jobs should not have a negative impact on other responsibilities.
But this is exactly what happens at our public hospitals. Doctors perform their duties half-heartedly and ask patients to visit them at their private clinics. They charge an exorbitant fee and prescribe expensive medicines that are available only at a few medical stores. The main purpose of public hospitals is to provide affordable treatment. The government must put an end to practices that result in an unnecessary financial burden on the people.
