MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to give ownership right of forests to the tribespeople in Torghar district.
“The government has completed all legal formalities to give back forests to tribespeople and the provincial cabinet would give its final approval in its meeting next week,” MPA Zargul Khan, who is also the political advisor to the chief minister, told reporters here on Wednesday. The forests would be re-allotted in the names of five main tribes of the district, including Bassikhel, Nusratkhel, Madakhel, Akazai and Hassanzai, he added.
He maintained that a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak decided to give back the ownership right of the forests to local tribes.
