Pakistan, India meet in Blind World Cup final on 20th

KARACHI: As was widely expected, Pakistan and India will meet in the final of the World Cup for the Blind.

The two teams come across on January 20 at Sharjah cricket stadium. Pakistan routed Sri Lanka by 156 runs at Ajman on Wednesday.In the second semi-final, India defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets.

Invited to bat first, Pakistan scored 489-8 in 40 overs. Openers Badar Munir and M Rashid struck 152 runs together. Badar was caught off Ravindra’s bowling after scoring 72. Riasat Khan and Rashid added 109 before the latter got run out. Rashid made 139 off 90 deliveries. Riasat (44) was run out after adding 51 runs with Nisar Khan who made 99 off 40 balls. Zafar Iqbal (34) and Anis Jawed (25) were the other prominent scorers.

Suriarachchi took two wickets, conceding 81 runs in 7 overs. Sri Lanka managed 333 for the loss of three wickets.Suranga Sampath (24) and K A Silva (36) gave Sri Lanka a 54-run start. Chandana scored an unbeaten century. Samna Thisara (43) and Rowan Wasanta (39) also played well.

Badar got two wickets.

Rashid was declared the man-of-the-match.
