MINGORA: Former chief minister and Awami National Party (ANP) provincial chief Ameer Haider Hoti on Tuesday vowed to safeguard the province’s rights after forming next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking at a ceremony in Manyar in Barikot tehsil of Swat district, he said that other provinces were usurping the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the people of the province should support the ANP to secure the rights and share of the province in the resources.
He said the federal government had set up coal plants to generate expensive power and not utilising the hydel power generation potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to generate cheap electricity.
The former chief minister said the previous ANP-led provincial government had secured the province rights and persuaded the Pakistan People’s Party-led federal government to devolve powers to provinces.
He said that the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did nothing to get rights of the province except issuing statements in media.
Criticising the PTI-led provincial government, the nationalist politician said that the ministers and lawmakers of the ruling PTI were levelling serious allegations of corruption against own-party government.“We would hold the corrupt of the PTI accountable,” he vowed.
On the occasion, activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz including Zahir Shah Khan joined the ANP.
