Campuses on The Mall to remain closed today

LAHORE: Six public schools while many private schools and higher education institutions on The Mall and adjoining areas will remain closed in the wake of a joint protest by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and other political parties at Faisal Chowk on Wednesday (today).

According to Secretary School Education Department, Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik, the six public schools that will remain closed today include Government Boys High School, Governor House, Government Girls High School, Governor house, Government Islamia High School, Khazana Gate, Government Fatima Girls High School, Fane Road, Government Girls High School, Napier Road and Government Girls High School, Shahra-e-Aiwan-e-Tijarat.

Separately, the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab announced that Government College University (GCU), Punjab University Old Campus and National College of Arts will also remain closed today in the wake of the protest.

Meanwhile, sources in the schools and Higher Education Department said because of the ongoing construction work on different routes of Metro Train and the protest call a thin attendance of students and teachers would be expected on Wednesday (today). It is pertinent to mention that traffic mess has become a routine for the last many days owing to the ongoing construction work in different parts of the provincial metropolis.
