The judicial magistrate (south) has sent the five Chinese nationals accused of using skimming devices to steal bank customers’ data and stealing millions from Pakistani citizens by fraud on physical remand to the police till January 18.

The investigation officer presented the accused in the court on Monday and said that they belong to a 10-member gang involved in stealing millions by using skimming devices on ATM machines of several banks on Tipu Sultan Road, Abdullah Haroon Road and other parts of the city.

Two of the accused Zing Q Ping and Zhong Sheven are already under detention for the same charges. They were arrested last week from Zainab Market. The other three accused were recently arrested from elsewhere in the city, the IO said. Cases against the five accused have been lodged with the FIA’s Cyber Crime Cell. The IO prayed to the court to grant 14 day physical remand to interrogate the total five accused who were unable to speak Urdu or English. He further submitted that the investigators were trying their best to locate the whereabouts of the five other absconders who were also part of the gang stealing huge amounts of money by using fake ATM cards. The court however accepted to send them on remand till January 18.
