Progress doesn’t touch the feet of a country which has no regard for its valuable assets. Sunday (Jan 14) brought sad news of Dr Hassan Zafar’s demise which has left people in the state of mourning. Dr Zafar was a progressive political activist who always raised his voice in support of the marginalised segments of our society. Although he is no more with us, his ideas and mission will remain with us forever.
He was a man of wisdom and throughout his teaching career he shared his pearls of wisdom with his students. It is rightly said that a country cannot progress unless it gives due respect to its teachers. But in our country, teachers with progressive voice are discouraged. We are equally responsible for the sad state of our country.
