TCKP to arrange rafting event on 28th
PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) is holding a thrilling water rafting activity for the second time in the Kabul River from Jehangira to old Attock Bridge located on the mighty Indus River on January 28.
A meeting to this effect was held on Monday with Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs, Muhammad Tariq, in the chair. Additional Secretary Babar Khan, TCKP Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, General Manager (Admin & Properties) Sajjad Hameed, Event In-charge Hassina Shaukat, and others attended the meeting.
The meeting praised the last year's first-ever rafting activity organized by the TCKP at River Kabul. It noted that the proposed event will promote adventure tourism in the region and provide recreational opportunity to the youth and families.
The secretary said the activity was meant to provide opportunities of entertainment, adventure and eco-friendly tourism to youth and families of the province and country as well. "The tangible steps taken by the Tourism Department for the promotion of tourism have yielded results and a large number of tourists are now visiting the scenic spots of the province," he told the participants.
The official said that efforts were also on to identify new serene resorts including that of cultural, religious and adventure tourism to develop them along modern lines to attract more tourists to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the department had arranged various events of cultural, religious and adventure tourism and sports including rafting, paragliding, jeep rally and zip-lining in Peshawar, Misri Banda and Akora Khattak in Nowshera, Shabqadar in Charsadda, Kohat and Khanpur Lake in Haripur district for the youth and families.
"More events of rafting, paragliding, jeep rally and zip-lining and water sports have been planned in the current calendar," the secretary added. Briefing the participants, Hassina Shaukat said that the last year's rafting activity was a success story in which both male and female enthusiasts had participated.
"On the demand of male and female enthusiasts, the TCKP this year has also planned to organize the rafting gala in Kabul River from Jehangira to old Attock Bridge," the official told the participants.
She said the participants will be facilitated to experience the best guides, rafting equipment and refreshments. The transportation, food, first aid kit and other facilities will also be provided during the event.
