PTI to come into power this year: Imran
KARAK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Monday that the PTI would come into power following the 2018 general elections and hold big looters of national wealth accountable for their corruption.
The PTI chairman termed corruption as the root cause of failure of institutions. He said that only five percent students could hardly reach the higher educational institutions. He said the youth were the last ray of hope and they should work collectively for making the country successful in the comity of nations.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will solve all the problems pertaining to Khushal Khan Khattak University in Karak and release its funds, which have been withheld for the last three years. He was delivering a lecture on "Leadership and Good Governance" to the students, faculty and other staff of the university on the university campus on Monday.
The PTI chief said education was not a priority with the successive governments in the past and that is why the nation is suffering due to under-development. He said imparting quality education to the youth was part of PTI's vision, under which provision of all facilities relating to education would be ensured to the students of the university.
The PTI chairman told the students they should not be afraid of difficult times but have the courage to face the odds bravely to turn them into a success. Imran Khan asked the youth to manage the failure in a better way through self-accountability and analysis of their faults. He stressed the need for working with team spirit. The PTI chief expressed the optimism that the graduates of the Karak varsity would bear the qualities of legendary Pashto poet Khushal Khan Khattak the university had been named after.
Earlier, university's Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Jehan Bakht welcomed PTI Chairman Imran Khan and others to the university. The vice-chancellor said there were nine departments in the university. He added that a piece of 500 kanals of land had been acquired and estimated cost of the new building had been put at Rs7 billion.
He requested the provincial government to release the funds for the construction of the university building so that the requirements for the increasing number of students could be met. The vice-chancellor also called for releasing varsity’s due share in oil and gas royalty funds which, he deplored, had been suspended for the last three years.
On the occasion, provincial Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Information Minister Shah Farman, chief minister's adviser on prisons affairs Malik Qasim Khan Khattak, and MPAs Gul Sahib Khan, Deena Naz Khattak and Zareen Zia were also present.
