The journey of Radio Pakistan towards a financial crisis is an expected one. The organisation is not only occurring financial losses, but it is having a hard time to pay its staff. Due to these financial constraints, Radio Pakistan doesn’t have sufficient fund to pay pension. This has created a lot of problems for old pensioners who are finding it difficult to manage their monthly expenses.
Similar to the state of other government institutions, Radio Pakistan doesn’t have multiple sources of income. It has already sought for a bailout package of Rs2 billion to clear dues of its existing employees and contributors. It is the responsibility of the government to take the organisation out of the crisis. Reforms should be introduced for the revival of Radio Pakistan which used to be a household name in good old days.. The government’s sincere efforts will alleviate the suffering of so many households.
