PESHAWAR: Health experts on Saturday stressed the need for promoting research and innovation in colleges and universities to produce useful people and better serve society.
They were speaking at the 6th Annual Health Research Conference organised by the Khyber Medical University (KMU) at Hayatabad in Peshawar.
Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser inaugurated the conference.
“It is the job of universities to generate new knowledge through research and innovation to address the local issues faced by the nation,” he said.
The speaker said that the KMU, being the only public sector medical university in the province, has huge responsibility of fulfilling the expectation of the government, public, policymakers, managers and patients to conduct research.
He noted that the solutions found through local research would empower us to overcome the obstacles in the healthcare system and capacity vacuum. “Local solutions of the local problems would lead to a step change in the healthcare delivery and efficiency,” Asad Qaiser said.
Secretary Health Musthaq Jadoon also spoke on the occasion and said that research and innovation are the basis for the growth and prosperity of the developed nations.
