Demand for woollen coats surges as mercury drops

Islamabad: With dip in temperature across the country, the demand for winter wear and ‘woollen coats’ is on the rise as people can be seen flooding in the shops for purchasing the different stuffs.

A report aired by a private news channel, as the cold wave has gripped several parts of the country, Warm coats are a hot commodity and a warm necessity for this bone chilling weather. “A number of stalls have been set-up at a various places selling winter stuff including woollen coats in different design” a shopkeeper said.

Meanwhile, there is a huge range of woollen Coats which are the most sought-after by the teenagers and the college-going youths to protect themselves from the biting cold. A shopkeeper, Yasir Danish who has been selling woollen clothes said the demand for woollen clothes specially coats and jackets rises with the fall in mercury level in early January.

Another retailer Hashim Javed said shops dealing in winter wear have stocked the latest designs and variety and are doing brisk business. “I have every kind of warm clothing, but mostly people buy wool coats,” a shopkeeper said.

The traders said they are selling sweaters, jackets and coats of different quality at competitive prices. Ayesha Khan said, “After the sudden change in weather, I went to a local market to buy warm coats for myself and my children, and I noticed that the prices were normal.” Ali Faisal, a resident said he had bought two stylish woollen coats for his children, adding, the quality and collection of worm dresses is good.
