Boy injured in crossfire dies

LAHORE: A 12-year-old boy, who was injured during cross-firing between two rival groups in Nawankot, succumbed to injuries at hospital on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy and added the murder offence to the already registered FIR. The victim, Salman, had received a bullet injury near Jhugian Nagra. He was admitted to hospital where he died. Police have yet to arrest the accused persons.

Dies: A man died in a road accident in Sattukatla police limits on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Usman, 22. His injured friend was identified as Imran. The incident occurred due to a collision among two cars and a bike.

body found: A body of a 25-year-old woman was recovered from the River Ravi in the Shahdra police limits on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The body of an unknown woman was floating in the river when children playing on river bank noticed it and informed police. A police official said the victim had earlier tried to commit suicide but it was foiled by Civil Defence officials.

Found dead: A 45-year-old man was found dead in Bhatti Gate police limits on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The body was recovered from footpath. Passersby spotted the body and informed police. Police claimed the victim died due to excessive use of drugs.

IndiaN Fishermen: At least 147 Indian fishermen were handed over to the Indian Border Force at Wahga Border on Monday. They were arrested on sea limits violation 11 months back in Karachi. On Monday, they reached Lahore from Karachi by the Allama Iqbal Express. Edhi Foundation received them and provided them with food, clothes and cash. Later, they were sent to Wahga Border.

ARRESTED: Dolphin Force and Police Response Unit claimed to have arrested 18 accused during a crackdown against outlaws in the provincial metropolis. SP Rizwan Umar Gondal said the slogan of crime-free Lahore will become true with continued efforts. The force took action against robbers, fireworks, swindling, kite flying and gangs involved in cash snatching from outside ATM machines. They also recovered a car and a bike from their custody. Police also arrested one wheelers and registered cases against them.

promoted: Punjab Highway Patrol Lahore Region SSP Babar Bakth Qureshi promoted 16 constables to the rank of head constable who passed lower class course.

The SSP promoted 16 constables Tariq Nisar C/2274, Zameer Haider C/2288, Munawar Hussain C/1515, Tanvir Ahmad C/1229, Asif Rasheed C/347, Muazzam Nawaz C/1219, Sajid Ali C/2144, Zaka Ullah C/2150, M Yousaf C/1823, Saqlain Raza C/1800, Mehram Ali C/1052, M. Amjad C/28, Amir Ali C/1120, Sajjad Hussain C/1666, Amir Iqbal C/2208 and Sadaqat Ali C/104 from Constable to the rank of Head Constable who passed out lower class course. During ceremony SSP/PHP instructed all the newly promoted personnel to perform their duties with sincerity and diligently.

RESCUE: Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer, inaugurated four-day long course for establishing Community Emergency Response Teams in all union councils of Punjab held at the Managers Training Centre (MTC), Rescue 1122 Headquarters. The CADRE course has been organised for capacity building of 16 Emergency Officers (EOs) and 03 Rescue and Safety Officers (RSOs) so that they could be able to play key role in building of safer communities across the Punjab by involving Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). While addressing the opening ceremony, the DG Rescue said the basic purpose of running such courses is to enhance capacity of the managers to maintain service standards in all districts of the Punjab. He asked the Emergency Officers (EOs) and Rescue and Safety Officers (RSOs) to ensure establishment of CERT at every Union Council to further have First Aider at ever home, impart training to all CERTs, ensure CADRE training standards and follow directions for execution of CERT Plan for Year 2018. The course shall cover the topics including Common Hazards and the Community Response Group, Securing Family Preparing for Response, First Aid and Basic Life Support, Basic Search and Rescue, Management of Fire and Water emergencies, Incident Command System & Triage, Dead body Management followed by practical simulation exercise to analyse and evaluate skills of participants imparted during the training course. The CADRE certified including Mian Riffat Zia, PMO/Course Monitor, Dr M Farhan Khalid Registrar ESA/ Exercise Coordinator, Muhammad Ahsan Head of Safety/ Course Coordinator, Ayaz Aslam, Head of Operations, Ms Sumaira Liaquat Social Welfare Officer, Dr Ehtasham Mazhar Emergency Officer Medical, Engr Hafiz Taimoor Khalid Emergency Officer, Engr Shakeel Emergency Officer shall impart training to the RSOs and Nadeem Khattak Assistant HR Officer and Aqeel Hussain Assistant shall provide logistic support in under the supervision of Dr Foaad Shahazad Mirza Head of Human Resource Development.
