MANSEHRA: Mohammad Ibrar Tanoli, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) belonging to the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), on Thursday claimed that he was offered Rs170 million to vote for a contender in the Senate election.
“I am against horse-trading in the Senate election and want my colleagues to remain loyal to their respective parties. I have refused Rs 170million offered by a candidate,” Mohammad Ibrar Tanoli told reporters here.
Tanoli was sacked as minister for environment and forests by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak last year over allegations of corruption. “I strongly support the move of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for amendments to curb horse-trading in the Senate election,” Tanoli added. He said that his party would support amendments proposed by any party to curb horse-trading in the Senate polls. Tanoli also blasted some party leaders for using derogatory language against the lawmakers.
He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had yet to prove allegations of corruption against him. “We are still waiting for the chief minister and Imran Khan to prove the allegations against me and our party MPA, Bakht Baidar,” he added.
