In order to save money, bus owners have installed oxygen and carbon dioxide cylinders. Though less expensive they are like potential bombs roaming freely. The government should immediately devise measures to prevent vehicles with faulty cylinders from coming on roads.
According to the Pakistan CNG Rules 1992, CNG cylinders installed in vehicles should be tested or replaced after every five years. Testing of CNG cylinders is mainly carried out by the Hydrocarbon Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) at its testing lab by charging Rs550. People are requested to get their CNG cylinders tested and raise awareness about this issue as well.
