LANDIKOTAL: The local administration on Monday launched a week-long cleanliness campaign to create awareness among people about the importance of clean and neat surroundings.
Dozens of local people, journalists, business community members, religious and political parties’ leaders, civil society members and officials participated in the opening of the campaign. They first arranged a walk in the Landikotal bazaar and informed people about the importance of cleanliness.
Political Tehsildar Landikotal Shamsul Islam, Landikotal Line Officer Hikmat Khan Afridi, Subedar Swalzar Khan Afridi, Landikotal Falahe Tahzeem Chairman Akhtar Ali Shinwari and president Banaras Shinwari led the walk to set an example and encourage others to come forward for such a noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Political Tehsildar Shamsul Islam said that it was the moral and religious duty of everyone to keep their living places clean. He said the campaign would continue till January 8 to clean the bazars and surroundings.
The official said the sanitation staff of Landikotal would take part in the seven days’ drive while the local administration would provide financial and logistic support to the staff and volunteers.
