PML-N activists accuse KP transport officials of corruption
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) activists on Monday accused the transport officials of charging additional fees and illegal taxes from transporters and demanded the government to take action against them.
Speaking at a press conference here, PML-N district vice-president Fazal Rabi said the officials of transport authority had broken all records of corruption but no action was taken against them.
He said the motor vehicle examiner in Swat region had retained the position for the last 10 years and controlling more than eight districts. Fazal Rabi alleged that the motor vehicle examiner charged additional fees and collected illegal taxes from transporters.
Flanked by the party’s senior vice-president, Peshawar district, Fakhar Alam, activist Niaz Mohammad Khan and others, Fazal Rabi criticised the provincial government. He alleged the Transport Department had become a hub of corruption.
Fazal Rabi alleged the transport authorities collected Rs3,500 unlawfully for issuance of vehicle fitness certificate. He urged the National Accountability Bureau and Anti-Corruption Establishment to take action against the corrupt elements in the Transport Department.
