NOWSHERA: The Nowshera Cantonment Board on Sunday launched an anti-encroachment drive to clear roads for smooth flow of traffic.
The drive was launched on the directives of the Station Commander Brigadier Nazir Hussain Khan. The Cantonment Board officials along with policemen moved into action on the Khushalpura, Grand Trunk Road, Cavalry Road, Aziz Bhatti Road and other main routes.
The campaign was launched after the expiry of the seven-day deadline. The general public had complained about the traffic mess in the bazaars due to the encroachments. The motorists have been asked not to park vehicles on the roadsides, warning them of a punitive action in case of violation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Khwaja Sikandar Zeeshan warned of strict action against encroachers across the district.
Speaking at a public forum, he said the public land must be retrieved at all costs. He warned government officials of stringent action if they were found involved in collusion with the land mafia.
