MMA to muster other religious forces’ support for next polls: Siraj
ISLAMABAD: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq said that the
religious parties’ alliance, MMA, had been fully activated and it would also try to win over the other religious forces for the next elections.
Talking to newsmen in London, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that the past and the present governments did not have the capability to resolve the problems facing the country on internal and external fronts and due to this they had lost the confidence of the masses.
He said that the JI’s drive against corruption had created an awakening among the masses all over the country.
He was hopeful that in the next elections, the masses would reject the corrupt elements and elect honest and competent leadership having a clean record.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI wanted accountability to go alongside the electoral process.
He also demanded of the Election Commission to debar all those who were involved in the plunder of the public money from contesting the next elections.
Referring to the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat (SAW) issue, he said the ball was still in the government court, adding that till the time the report of the Raja Zafarul Haq committee was out and the culprits were named and punished, the unrest and hatred among the masses against the government would remain alive.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief called on senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader Professor Khurshid Ahmed in London and prayed for his quick recovery.
JI Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Asghar, accompanied him.
