SWABI: The elders and residents of several villages in Chak Yar Hussain on Tuesday asked the Swabi deputy commissioner (DC) to form an impartial committee of the Revenue Department officials to conduct demarcation of a disputed road in their area.
They gathered at Bakyana Killay and held a protest meeting after the committee constituted by the deputy commissioner failed to carry out demarcation of the road. Speaking at the meeting, a number of elders including Gohar Ali, Liaqat Ali, Fazal Qadir, Muhammad Rafiq, Nisar Khan, Anwar Khan, Najmul Haq, Maulana Sherzada, Saadullah Khan Advocate and others lauded the district administration for taking steps to avert a possible clash by forming a committee to resolve the issue. They, however, deplored that some of the members played a partial role and intentionally failed the whole exercise. They vowed to stick to the genuine demand and go to any extent for their right.
It may be mentioned that Deputy Commissioner Matiullah Khan had formed a committee for conducting demarcation of the disputed road from Jaganath village to Bakyana Killay. But the body failed to accomplish the task and meet the demand of the villagers.
The elders said Girdawar Imam Hussain and district council Patwari Umar Hayat were hand in glove with one party, as the latter is a close relative of the alleged grabbers of land of the road.
They said the two were backing one party and creating hurdles in the demarcation process. Resultantly, the demarcation was not carried out due to their biased attitude that caused resentment to people of the area.
The elders appealed to the deputy commissioner to constitute an impartial committee of the officials of the Revenue Department to settle the longstanding dispute over the road once and for all. They threatened to launch a protest movement if their genuine demand was not met.
