10 years on
If she could see the present state of Sindh, Benazir Bhutto would be so disappointed to realise that the province she dreamt would flourish and prosper in the world during her five-year government has slid into the worst of the worst conditions. Sindh, that was once famous for its historical importance and for its economic prosperity, has now fallen into decline and sunk into miserable failure at the hands of the PPPP – which has been in government for 10 years now.
The PPP-led government has deprived people of their basic right — quality education. According to a recent report by Alif Ailaan, Sindh is among lowest ranked provinces with respect to the provision of quality education. After all, how can education grow in efficiency and effectiveness in the province where instead of merit-based recruitment, nepotism and favouritism prevails? To this day, it’s been a hilarious, notorious saying that the PPP’s so-called representatives, when nearing the elections, swing into action to visit their constituencies, arrange public gatherings, and bask in boasting what they recently have done. Uniformed people cast vote for these representatives under the misapprehension that they work for the welfare and betterment of the province. It is sad to see the dismal performance of a party that is capable of good governance. It is disappointing to note that some individuals’ interests and personal gains have conveniently defeated the party’s vision.
