Govt given last chance on plea against Nawaz, Maryam
LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court Thursday gave last chance to Centre and the Punjab government on a petition against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for using official protocol.
The judge earlier on November 24, had issued notices to both the governments and had sought replies.
On Thursday, the court was informed that both the respondent governments had not submitted replies. Andleeb Abbas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed the petition. Petitioner counsel said that disqualified PM and his daughter were enjoying state protocol in sheer violation of the law.
He requested the court to order the government authorities to withdraw the official protocol from disqualified prime minister and his daughter. He also requested that Nawaz Sharif should also be stopped from holding meetings in the Punjab House.
