Lecture on ties between Turkey, subcontinent Muslims

Islamabad : The Turkish language department of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Tuesday organized a lecture by Prof Dr Azmi Ozcan on the topic of Historical Relations between the Ottoman Turkey and Subcontinent Muslims in connection with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Pakistan at NUML.

Turkish ambassador to Pakistan, Sadik Babur Girgin, Rector NUML Major General (r) Zia Uddin Najam, Director General NUML Brig Muhammad Ibrahim, registrar, deans, directors, faculty members and students also attended the thought provoking lecture by the worthy and learned guest.

Speaking on the occasion Turkish ambassador said that Pakistanis were great nation and Pakistani youth needed to have faith in themselves.

He said Pak-Turk diplomatic relations were very deep and getting stronger by every passing day. He stressed the need of the unity of Muslim Ummah and urged youth to play its due role.

Prof Dr Azmi Ozcan elaborated the struggle of sub-continent renowned persons for the Ottoman Empire. He said Molana Shibli Nomani, Abu ul Kalam Azad and other played a key role in favour of Ottoman Empire. Pak-Turk relations were old and deep, he said and briefed the participants about the different incidents of that time and tell them that was the time of the rise of Muslims.

At the end, Rector NUML thanked the guests and said Turkey had rich history and tradition. He lauded the services of outgoing ambassador for strengthening the Pak-Turk relations. He also urged the professor to visit NUML again to enlighten all the students.
