Karachi: Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s Malir Campus at the Education City, Malir, Karachi, will be held on Monday, 25th December, 2017 at 12.00 noon. Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister Sindh have been invited to grace the event. The ceremony is being held in connection with the birthday anniversary of SMIU’s illustrious student and founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Also, it is a part of Pakistan’s 70 years’ celebrations.
This was stated in a meeting of senior management of SMIU, held on Tuesday, which was chaired by Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of the university. In the meeting arrangements of the ceremony were reviewed and finalized.
Addressing the meeting Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh said that it is our proud privilege to state that the Government of Pakistan has approved first phase of development of SMIU Campus at Education City, Malir, Karachi, with the capital cost of Rs.1.57 billion.
Dr Shaikh further said that it would be a historic occasion because a new campus is being added to SMIU after 130 years. The first stone laying ceremony of SMI’s Main Building was held on November 14th 1887, when Viceroy of India Lord Dufferin had laid the foundation stone of Main Building and this would be the second foundation stone laying ceremony, that will be held on 25th December 2017.
