PML-N to contest next polls on basis of performance: Abbasi
KOHAT: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Saturday said the PML-N government did not make hollow claims, but was doing practical work and will contest the next general election on the basis of performance.
He was speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating the women campus of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) in Azeem Bagh in Babari Banda here.
He said the PML-N believed in the politics of serving the people and not abusing opponents for political point-scoring. He maintained that dictators and other political parties ruled the country, but they did not carry out any mega development project or provide relief to people.
“The PML-N always undertook development work unlike its political opponents who rely on hollow claims and use abusive language against others,” he claimed.
“Only the PML-N government launched and executed mega development projects whenever it came into power,” he added.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif honoured the commitments made with the people.
“The development work we carried out in just four years could not be done in the past 20 years,” he insisted.
He said the federal government continued to carry out uplift work despite numerous challenges and unfavourable circumstances.
The federal government fought terrorism and violence in the country and restored peace with the support of the masses, he argued.
The prime minister said the government would complete its term and the election would be held on time.
He said some people were trying to politicise the issue of the proposed merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is going to abolish the outdated system and merge the tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he declared.
