Governor lauds Christian community’s role in country’s progress

Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has lauded the role of the Christian community towards national development in the country. He was talking to a three-member delegation, led by Bishop Nazir Alam, who called on him at the Governor House on Thursday. Zubair said that concerted efforts were required for the creation of a welfare society in the country. He pointed out that the minorities were playing an appreciable role in this regard, especially in the realms of education and health.

He said that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, amity and brotherhood. He stated that the government provided protection and freedom to the minorities in the country and enabled them to play their full role towards the betterment of the society.

The governor said that the Christian community was busy these days to make preparations to celebrate the Christmas festival and New Year. The holding of special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country augured well, he added. Bishop Nazir Alam said that the Christians along with fellow Pakistanis were playing an active role towards the betterment of the country.
