Youths true guardian of country: Rajwana

FAISALABAD: Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has asked the youths to play their role in the progress of the country.

He was addressing the 8th convocation of Government College University Faisalabad at New Campus on Jhang Road. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, MPAs Haji Ilyas Ansari, Mian Muhammad Rafiq, Fatima Fariha, provincial Parliamentary Secretary Faqir Hussain Dogar, the VCs of Agriculture University and GC Women University, faculty members, students and their parents attended the function. The Punjab governor said that the youth were asset of the country and they were the real custodian of Pakistan. They could serve the country after getting command on knowledge and education, Rajwana said. He said that the students should payback the rights of their parents and country after achieving the degrees. He said that Pakistan was enriched with a lot of various blessings but it was need to serve the country with dedication and commitment in the right direction.

He appreciated the sincere efforts and commitment of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali for uplift of the university and said that this university was a blessing for the students of this region. Earlier, in his welcome address, VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali thanked the Punjab governor for gracing the convocation as the chief guest and said that his participation was a great encouragement for the university management and students. He informed that the GC University Faisalabad was included in the top five universities of the country and more than 40 thousands students had been enrolled in it.

He informed that the university was providing education for PHD degree in 27 subjects, MPhil in 50 subjects, Masters in 39 and bachelor degree in 59 subjects. He said that Rs 730 million funds had been spent on the construction of four academic blocks and state-of-the-art science laboratory and other development project. He disclosed that two sub-campuses of the varsity were being established at Chiniot and Hafizabad. Later, degrees and medals were awarded to the students of sessions from 2011 to 2016.

CHRISTMAS BAZAARS: On the directions of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, seven special Christmas Bazaars will be established in the district.

It was said by Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani during a District Coordination Committee meeting held at the DC Office on Wednesday. The meeting was held to review the arrangements of Christmas celebrations in the district. CPO Athar Ismail, ADC-R Muhammad Shahid, representatives of Christian community and officers of different departments were also present in the meeting. The DC said that the bazaars would be established to provide essential commodities to the Christian community on subsidised rates. He said that the special Christmas Bazaars would be set up at Saint Anthony School Model Town, Pinto Ground Warispua, Khurrianlwala Chowk, Old Tanga Stand, Water Works Chiniot Road, Chak Jhumra, Sahulat Bazaar Gojra Road, Samundri and Christian Colony Mohallah Shamspura Tandlianwala.
