PESHAWAR: Speakers have suggested inclusion of human rights as a subject in the syllabus of educational institutions across the country.
The suggestion was made at a seminar arranged by the Regional Directorate of the Human Rights KP of the Ministry of Human Rights Islamabad.
The seminar was organized by the Regional Directorate of Human Rights at the Higher Secondary School for Girls in Phase-1 Hayatabad Peshawar in connection of International Human Rights Day.
Regional Director of Human Rights Directorate, Ghulam Ali, Deputy Director Robina Zafar and Robina Qayyum addressed the seminar. They highlighted the importance of human rights. The officials suggested to the government to include human rights as subject as the students know about the human rights.
Ghulam Ali said the International Human Rights Day was an occasion for the comity of nations to reaffirm commitment to the protection of human rights and the promotion of human values across the globe in the true spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Proclaimed by the United Nations in 1948.
He said in conformity with the beliefs and commitments, the government of Pakistan was undertaking several important initiatives, including multi-dimensional legal reforms and the establishment of institutional mechanisms that would ensure the protection of human rights, especially in the case of marginalized and disadvantaged societal groups.
