Career councilling at National Youth Carnival

PESHAWAR: Students and youth were Monday provided guidelines on career counselling at the National Youth Carnival (NYC) Education Expo at the Peshawar Sports Complex.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, who was chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the two-day expo. Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Mehmood Khan, Director General Youth Affairs Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan, renowned singer Muni Begum, famous actors and actresses Tauqeer Nasir, Mishi Khan, Uruj Khan, Abid Ali, Ijaz Multani and others were also present.

Over 30 national and international educational consultants including USA, Australia, Germany Education Closer, Fully-Funded Degree and Exchange Program, Free Education, Advising Service, British Council, National Data Base Pakistan and others set up stalls and were providing guidelines to the students and youth to build their careers.

The consultanatnts were providing guidance about corporate, social and education sectors.

The consultancy firms would also award trainings, scholarships and offer jobs to enlightened students during the expo.

Asad Qaiser termed the NYC Education Expo the biggest platform provided by the youth ministry to talented students and youth to get guidance to make right decisions about their future.

He said the NYC provided a platform to the youth to express themselves and show their hidden talent.

The speaker said the event would also convey a positive message to the outside world that we were peace loving people.

He revealed that youth from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries would be invited to the 2018 NYC. “This would give an international exposure to our youth,” he added.

Asad Qaiser said that students of more than 17 religious institutions were participating in the event. He said that male and female students were given equal participation in the NYC as 50 percent of the participants were female.

He said the expo would help the youth to take right decision about their future.

“The Expo is an ideal platform for fresh graduates and job seekers to get guidance from representatives of international reputed consultancies pertaining to higher education and choose best jobs in the market,” he concluded.

He said the welfare of youth was the top priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the government had so far constructed 100 new playgrounds for them across the province.

The speaker said Rs1.5 billion was being spent on the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium to bring it on a par with the international standard cricket grounds.
