LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Monday issued notices to ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and federal government in connection with a petition seeking contempt proceedings against the former over his alleged anti-judiciary speech. Justice Shahid Karim was hearing the civil miscellaneous application moved by a local lawyer Azhar Siddique. In another petition seeking transparency in Orange Line Metro Train Project, the LHC issued notices to the government. The petition was argued by advocate Azhar Siddique that over Rs200 billion had been spent on Orange Line Metro Train project but the government had been misleading the court about the actual cost. The hearing was adjourned till the first week of January 2018.
