The court of the judicial magistrate (East), on Monday, granted a five-day physical remand of the Saudabad murder victim’s elder sister and three others for their involvement in the murder case, Geo News reported.

Eighteen-year-old Alveena, her fiancé, Mazhar, and two others, Ahsan and Abbas, were produced in the court of the judicial magistrate by the cases’ investigation officer a day after Alveena confessed to killing her sister in collusion with her fiancé.

The IO on being asked about why were the accused not brought before the court within 24 hours of the confession, the officer apologised and requested the court to grant the police a five-day remand of the accused.

The court was told that the remand has also been requested so that medical tests of the suspects could be conducted - the procedure was held off till Monday owing to the absence of a female doctor who could perform Alveena’s check-up, said the officer.

The case of 16-year-old Aleena’s murder, initially reported to have been carried out during a robbery at their house in Saudabad on December 5, took a sinister turn on Sunday when the police revealed that the victim’s throat was slit by none other than her elder sister.

Alveena told the court that Ahsan – a friend of Aleena’s and brother of Abbas - was in possession of her objectionable photos over which the two brothers, together with her sister were blackmailing her.

Alveena told the police that her younger sister would let Ahsan in the house after the girls’ parents left the house early every morning. She said she tried to stop her several times but all in vain.

The three, she claimed, were blackmailing her to keep her from complaining about the goings on at the house to the parents, said the police. On the other hand, the two brothers told the court that they never blackmailed Alveena instead had given Rs25,000 to her once, claiming that blackmailers demand and not give money to their target.

The court ordered the IO to look into the case under the light of the law and see that no innocent person was made a part of the probe. The accused were sent on a physical remand till December 15, while an order was also issued to carry out a forensic analysis of the suspects’ mobile phones.

Sea View shooter’s remand

The prime suspect of the Sea View shooting incident was sent to the central prison on a judicial remand till December 18; the remand was sanctioned by the judicial magistrate (South). The judge also ordered the IO to submit a charge-sheet of the case at the next hearing.

Eighteen-year-old Zafir Khan was killed, while a friend of his sustained injuries after the suspect opened fire on their car on December 3.

Authorities have so far arrested the main suspect, Khawar Burnery, and also claims to have impounded a couple of vehicles connected to the incident. The investigation officer pleaded to the court to extend Burney's physical remand, but the plea was dismissed.

At the last hearing held on December 6, the investigation officer informed the court that Burney had 11 accomplices, including a woman, at the time the incident occurred. The absconders include Haider Hussain, Hassan Hussain, Hasnain and others.
