School building

December 12, 2017

I live in a village near Sanghar. Our village has only four hundred homes. All the villagers are diligent and hardworking. They possess extraordinary skills but, unfortunately, they are deprived of quality education since there is no school in the area. Six years ago, all the villagers left no stone unturned to demand for the construction of a middle school in their village. Finally the government granted the permission and allotted plot for the construction of the school building. Within short time, the building was constructed and the work was completed. However, the school has not been inaugurated to date. The building – that was constructed four years ago – has now become a dismal picture of lack of care and neglect. Whenever I pass by the school building, I say a silent prayer that one day children will learn in this school.

In order to provide better education to their children, many villagers have sent their children to cities. However some poverty-stricken people are still waiting for the inauguration of the school since they are unable to send their children to cities due to financial constraints. They are hopeful that one day they will send their children to the village’s middle school. If this school is soon inaugurated, many poor children can acquire education. All over Pakistan, thousands of children are studying in a school without roof. It is irony that in our village there is a school building, but there is no educational activity going on. All the villagers demand the higher authorities to take action against those who are responsible for this delay and at the same time inaugurate school as soon as possible.
