NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has initiated a jihad against corruption in Pakistan. Speaking at a public rally in Akora Khattak on Sunday, he said the countrymen wanted change and that the country needed honest leaders like Imran Khan.

Pervez Khattak said that Nawaz Sharif must understand that he was ousted for his corruption and deceiving countrymen, adding that Asif Ali Zardari and Asfandyar Wali Khan had also played their role in paralysing the system.

He said that Pakistanis would bring a positive change in the 2018 election as he hoped that his party would be elected to power in the next general election. On the occasion, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) former district president Mian Akmal Shah and others, including Abdur Rehman, Syed Ali Khattak and their supporters announced joining the PTI.

Pervez Khattak welcomed the workers of PPP into PTI's fold and added that the party whose affairs were being run by a person like Zardari has no future. He regretted that selfish politicians had destroyed the system while nobody asked as to why the common man had been kept out of the system for 70 years. He alleged that rulers had amassed billions of rupees in corruption while the masses were paying huge taxes for the rulers' luxuries. He said that the rulers had burdened the country with loans and deprived poor citizens of their rights.

PTI had introduced transparent governance in KP and would extend this model to federal level after forming government at the centre.

The chief minister claimed that more leaders and activists of other political parties would join the PTI in future.
