Good mental health
Every year different programmes are held to raise awareness among people regarding mental health. People are informed that good mental health is as important as good physical health. The only difference between the two is that one is apparent and the other is hidden. Although the country’s healthcare department is taking steps to provide good mental health to people, many people, including students, are still dealing with serious mental health issues. This year, the theme of World Mental Health Day was mental health in the workplace. According to psychiatrists, 70 percent of Pakistan’s working population is suffering mental health issue.
In our country government funding for people’s mental health in government hospitals is not enough. On mental health, the government has only spent 0.4 percent of the already low health budget. The other option that people have is to visit private clinics which are expensive. Since many people cannot afford treatment at a private hospital, their health condition keeps deteriorating. Good mental health is directly proportional to increased productivity. An employee with mental health problem cannot perform well. To deal with the issue of mental health in the workplace, companies can offer covering the 50 percent of medical expense of the employee with mental health problem. This will result in a win-win situation for both the parties – employee and employer.
