QIH to host EUS workshop

Islamabad: The Pakistan Society for Study of Liver Disease (PSSLD) will hold its 11th annual scientific meeting at Serena here from December 8-10, with a large number of national and international experts on liver and gastrointestinal diseases in attendance. Faculty will include delegates from Japan, USA, United Kingdom, India, China, Turkey, Canada and Pakistan.
The scientific programme for the meeting includes single topic symposia, lectures, interactive meetings, post-graduate courses, free paper sessions, and hands-on workshops. The Advanced Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS) hands-on workshop will be held at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital (QIH).
The Hepatology and Liver Transplant Department at QIH offers comprehensive hepatology and liver transplant services by one top-most faculty including Professor Najmul Hassan Shah, Professor Mohammad Salih, Professor Amjad Salamat and Professor M. Javed Afridi.
Professor M. Javed Afridi will hold the main hands-on Therapeutic Endoscopy and EUS workshop for the PSSLD participants. These local faculty members would be joined by Professor Tahir Shah from UK and Professor Ziagham Abbass from Karachi to perform live interactive sessions for the workshop participants.
The workshop will commence at 8.30 am and conclude at 2 p.m. at the main Endoscopy Department of QIH, with live images transmission to the main conference hall for trainees and interactive sessions with faculty during procedures. Professor Najmul Hassan Shah, Consultant Hepatologist and Director Liver Transplant Programme at QIH, will coordinate the interactive live sessions. The workshops will be a great learning experience.
