Lahore wears festive look for Eid Milad

LAHORE: The city will celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) today (Friday) as the citizens decorated every nook and corner of the provincial capital here on Thursday.
The festive look of the city is not only the effort of the private citizens but the city government as well as other government departments also actively took part in illuminating the government buildings, mosques, shrines, streets and markets to celebrate the occasion.
Besides the decorated buildings, dozens of Mehfil-e-Milad events, debates and picture competitions will be held in the city, which are organised by religious parties and organisations, schools and colleges while Seerat conferences, processions and gatherings are also included in the main features of the day.
Security has been increased to ward off any subversive activities in the wake of terrorism incidents. The central Eid-e-Milad procession will be taken out from Railway Station and march up to Data Darbar, while dozens of smaller processions from different parts of the city will merge with the central procession en route to Data Darbar.
The participants will be showered with rose petals and rose water. All city mosques, important government and private buildings have been decorated with colourful lights and buntings. The preparations reached the culmination point on Thursday night with the taking out of a torch-bearers’ procession under the aegis of Central Milad Committee from Data Darbar.
The participants riding vehicles and motorbikes, and on foot, marched on The Mall up to the Regal Chowk, carrying torches and reciting Durood and Na'ats, paying homage to the most sacred personality of the entire world history.
Children and youths have erected the clay replica of desert and mountains of the Arab peninsula where the divine message first dawned on the Prophet (PBUH). Anarkali Bazaar, Township Bazaar, Islampura Bazaar, Mughalpura Bazaar, Dharampura Bazaar are some localities where best clay replicas competitions will take place and winners will get different prizes, including cash and Umrah tickets.
