DHAKA: Comilla Victorians bounced back from their 30-run loss against Rajshahi Kings by crushing table-toppers Khulna Titans by nine wickets. Shoaib Malik, who took the new ball on a slow, grippy pitch, and seamer Al-Amin Hossain claimed three wickets each and dismissed Khulna for 111 before Comilla’s captain Tamim Iqbal led the chase with a breezy 64 - his second successive fifty in the league. Notably, this was the first BPL game without a single six.
Mahedi Hasan set the tone for Comilla when he got Rilee Rossouw skew an offbreak to Dwayne Bravo at backward point for a golden duck. Malik then bowled Nazmul Hasan Shanto with an arm ball to reduce Khulna to 8 for 2. Malik then pressed onto dismiss Afif Hossain and Nicholas Pooran in his next two overs. When Mohammad Saifuddin had Mahmudullah holing out to deep midwicket in the seventh over, Khulna were 40 for 5.
Scores: Khulna Titans 111 (Ariful 24, Malik 3-14, Al-Amin 3-20). Comilla Victorians 112 for 1 (Tamim 64*, Kayes 22*).
