Food festival gets underway

PESHAWAR: A Regional Food Festival started at a hotel here on Friday, presenting a variety of traditional cuisines of all provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Syed Ibrahim Dehnadi of the Iranian Consulate in Peshawar inaugurated the festival along with General Manager of the hotel Rashid Rauf Banday.
Syed Ibrahim went around different stalls set up at the green stalls of the hotel.
He took interest in the tasty traditional food of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK.
A group of traditional Chitrali dancers who performed to the tunes of Chitrali folk music received thundering applause from the audience at the opening ceremony.
Hassan Shah and his colleagues story-telling in Hindko language at a Qahwa stall added to the colours of the event.
Besides the guests, the visitors enjoyed the live music of the provinces alongside fun activities for children.
The lawn was decorated with cultural stalls for the festival where traditional khaddar, garments with embroidery, jewellery, precious stones, and decoration pieces attracted the visitors.
