National Men, Women Karate C’ships start

LAHORE: The 25th National Men and 11th National Women Karate Championships started Friday at Wapda Sports Complex, Ferozpur Road, Lahore.
Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hassan, President Pakistan Olympic Association was along with Muhammad Jahangir, Chairman Pakistan Karate Federation and Muhammad Razzaq Gill, Chairman Organizing Committee inaugurated the championship. The event started with the march past band from Crescent Model Girls High School.
Teams from all the affiliated units of Pakistan Karate Federation Wapda, Army, Police, Railways, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KP, Islamabad and Fata with more than 200 players and more than 50 technical official are participating. On first day of championships three events were contested. In Female Team Kata event Wapda team won gold medal and Army secured second position while teams from Sindh and Balochistan secured third position.
In Male Team Kata event Wapda team won gold medal and Army secured second position while teams from Sindh and Pakistan Railways secured third position. In Female Individual Kata Shahida from Wapda won gold medal, Nazdana from Railways secured silver medal and Aiman Zahra (Army), Rahila (Balochistan) secured third position.
