NAB’s anti-corruption campaign to continue: chairman

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is determined to continue its endeavours to eliminate corruption from society by pursuing zero tolerance policy against the corrupt, said Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal here Thursday.
Addressing at farewell ceremony, arranged for NAB Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar, he said the Bureau would adhere to the law of filing references in courts within 10 months period of receiving the complaints. He said he himself would be vigilant about progress of references in various courts.
The current 76 per cent conviction ratio of NAB references would be improved by ensuring transparency, merit, presenting sufficient evidence and flawless investigation to end white-collar crimes.
With effective efforts, the corrupt would be sentenced in various courts including accountability courts, high courts and Supreme Court. He said the cases of private housing societies, cooperative societies were still in various courts for years.
The government servants, pensioners had been deprived of their life-earnings. Masses are deeply perturbed due to this fraud with them. He directed NAB to conclude their cases as early as possible.
He directed officers to perform their duties in accordance with the law. The NAB chief also sought reports from the secretary establishment about appointments allegedly made on fake domiciles of Balochistan to various departments of the federal government under Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package.
