No room for anarchy, politics of chaos: Shahbaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said there was no room for anarchy or the politics of chaos in the present-day circumstances as the country required national unity and cohesion more than ever before.
Therefore, he said, provision of relief to the masses and public service were the pivot of PML-N government’s politics. The ruling party had always given priority to the politics of norms, at a time when some political elements tried to increase the people’s problems through sit-ins, Shahbaz added.
The chief minister was talking to Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir MNA and MPAs Mehr Muhammad Fiaz, Javed Allauddin Sajid and Manzir Hussain Ranjha. He said the claimants of change had not given anything except deprivations to the people as they wasted all their time on negative politics and sit-ins. Those indulging in negative politics would not get anything and the people were going to hold them accountable in next elections, said Shahbaz.
On the other hand, the PML-n government, without making any hollow claims, took practical steps for the welfare of the people, he noted. Shahbaz said development of less-developed areas had been especially focused under a strategy of composite development by spending billions of rupees.
He recalled that when PML-N came to power, the country was plunged into darkness, economically doomed and paralysed by terrorism, but the hard work and continuous efforts had reduced power outages to minimum level and the consensus decisions made by the political and military leadership shown positive results, breaking the backbone of terrorists.
Separately, Shahbaz, in a condolence message, expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Faisalabad-based senior journalists Ijaz Hashmat Khan. On the other hand, the chief minister said martyred pilot Marium Mukhtar was pride of the nation and a symbol of bravery for the whole country.
In a statement issued on the second death anniversary of Marium, he said Flying Officer Marium was a courageous and talented officer. A nation having talented and brave daughters like Marium always achieved success, added the chief minister.
