ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday decided to step up its mass contact drive, reiterating that the only solution to Pakistan’s political crisis was the holding of early general election.
PTI senior leadership met here with its Chairman Imran Khan in the chair to review key national issues. The meeting called for taking forward the process of accountability and insisted hearing might be held with regards to the Hudaibiya Papers Mills case so that the matter could be taken to its logical end.
The nation, the PTI leadership emphasised, was awaiting logical conclusion to the Model Town and Hudaibiya case. It also expressed deep concern over the delay in the return of Muhammad Ishaq Dar and said that he should face the law, adding the process of accountability was being closely monitored.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the economic situation and decided to step the on-going mass contact drive. It also deliberated upon mainstreaming of the religious seminaries and decided to take assistance from religious scholars and politico-religious parties in this connection.
The forum expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Major Ishaq and offered fateha for the departed soul and prayed for grant of patience and fortitude to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, PTI has demanded registration of cases against the incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal under section 216 of Pakistan Penal Code.
PTI’s Central Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi assisted his finance minister, a declared absconder by the Accountability Court hearing a reference against his involvement in a serious offence of money laundering, who has escaped from the country through Prime Minister's special plane.
Fawad said that Ishaq Dar has been indicted over his irrefutable involvement in a serious offence like money laundering by the court of Law. Prime Minister Abbasi along with former disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister facilitated the escape of Ishaq Dar from the country and abetted him avoid justice at home, he said.
Nawaz Sharif, a prime accused in the case, he said, is aware that surrender of Ishaq Dar before the law and his detention by law enforcement agencies including NAB will turn unfavorable condition to the worst for him and hence should be kept away.
Fawad Chaudhry stated Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and his Interior Minister have deliberately chosen to abet criminal Sharif Mafia instead of state and its prosecution machinery and hence should be booked under section 216 of Pakistan Penal Code.
