NUML holds conference on Persian language

Islamabad :Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Engineer Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Thursday stressed the need for the promotion of regional languages for national integrity.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of the National Conference on Persian Language-Challenges and future prospects as chief guest at the auditorium of the Higher Education Commission here.
The two-day conference was jointly organised by the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, HEC and National University of Modern Languages (NUML). The minister said the importance of languages could never be denied as languages were the reflection of culture and civilisation.
He noted that the Persian language had deep connection with the region, especially Pakistan, as most of the works of the local intellectuals was in Persian language. The minister said most part of the poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal was in Persian language.
"We will have to learn the Persian language if we want to know about our history and civilisation," he said. The minister congratulated the Embassy of Iran, HEC and NUML for holding the conference and said the event would prove a milestone in the promotion of Persian language.
He said Pakistan had strong relations with Iran and that Pakistani people had great affection for the people of Iran. In the end of the event, the minister distributed Saadi and Iqbal Awards to panellists.
