CDA seals four plazas in Sector B-17

Islamabad :The Capital Development Authority CDA) after remaining oblivious to the whole illegal construction activity for years in an around Islamabad city, has sprung into action against high-rise buildings.


On Thursday, the CDA teams comprising CDA Magistrate and officials from the Building Control and Enforcement directorate sealed four plazas raised in limits of a private housing society in sector B-17 on G T Road, a few kilometres from Taxila.


The buildings sealed by CDA due to illegal constructions including Capital Square Plaza, Makka Heights, Rahat Mall and Zaka Mall. “CDA is not only sealing buildings illegally constructed in the vicinity but also formulating strategy of taking action against the owners who do not seek approval of building plan from CDA,” a CDA official said.


The official announcement from CDA said the purpose of this act is to discourage the illegal construction activities and provision of protection to safeguard the valuable investment. However, it has been learnt that a large number of people had already purchased flats in these plazas by investing their hard-earned money.


The official said that on the directions of Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz, CDA has commenced a massive operation against illegal constructions in Sector B-17. The operation is being supervised by Director Building Control-II, Director Enforcement, CDA Magistrate and officers of concerned formations of CDA / MCI.


Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the owners involved in illegal construction activities have been served with notices while they were also warned through public notice published in the newspapers. He said that due to non-compliance, finally CDA started operation against the illegal construction activities in Sector B-17.


Sheikh Anser Aziz said that for the first time CDA has started gigantic operations against illegal construction activities and encroachments in the city to ensure development of the city as per master plan. He pointed out that CDA has already sealed buildings including Meriden Heights, Tuba Heights, Tuba Heights-II, Mustafa Tower, Prime Heights, Awan Arcade, Qartaba Heights, Apollo Heights, Islamabad Heights, Capital Residentia and other illegal structures in Sector E-11. In a belated action, he warned the general public to refrain from any kind of investment in these projects otherwise they will be responsible for loss of their investments.
