Lahore :Provincial Minister for Finance Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that a political commitment for gender equality and a compatible legal framework are the basic conditions for the development of successful gender mainstreaming strategy.
She expressed these views while addressing a workshop organised on Thursday by Women Chamber Of Commerce and Industries (WCCI). Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, LCCI former President Mian Anjum Nisar, Punjab Commission for Women representative Yasmin Zaidi, WCCI founding President Dr Shehla and WCCI President Falahat Imran were also present.
Ayesha Ghaus said the provincial government had taken several steps to improve the status of women, educate girls and empower them economically. The amendments and implementation of about 11 women-related Acts, the Zaver e Taleem programme and Apna Rozgar schemes were the landmark projects in this regard. She said the Punjab government was providing equal educational, training and business opportunities to men and women.
The Tevta chairman said that training of latest trades was enabling women to have access to better learning and employment opportunity. Dr Shela said availability of relevant skills and trades through skill building and employment prospects might develop a trend of better economic growth in women.
Seminar: Punjab University Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau organised a seminar to create awareness among the students about the problem of corruption on Thursday.
