ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on New Accountability Laws Wednesday remained inconclusive as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) stuck to their position of opposing the formation of new accountability commission to replace the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arguing that the existing accountability laws must be strengthened.
The PPP members of the parliamentary committee did not attend the Wednesday’s meeting chaired by Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Zahid Hamid admitted that no headway was made in the meeting as two parties opposed the formation of the National Accountability Commission to replace NAB. “Only two political parties are opposing the formation of the National Accountability Commission,” he said.
The minister said it was decided that clause by clause reading of the bill for the formation of the Commission would be started from coming Monday.
